Hi all,

Recently there have been extensive discussions on the effects of traces
passing over plane breaks. As a matter of fact, a series of tests on =
the
effects of trace passing plane breaks were conducted at Sigrity, and =
test
results were compiled in an internal report (written about 3 years ago)
which can now be shared at:

http://www.sigrity.com/support/internalbenchmark/traceoversplit/TraceOver=
Spl
itPlane.pdf

These tests demonstrate the impacts of plane breaks which include:

-Signal integrity degradation on active lines
-Increased coupling between adjacent lines
-Noise generated between metal planes
-Both microstrip and stripline structures are included

These tests were carried out by numerical solution of Maxwell's =
equations
with 3-dimenstional finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. =
Sigrity's
SPEED2000 solutions of the same structures were also provided and =
compared.

For those of you who have SPEED2000, you are welcome to request the
SPEED2000 data files (spd files) for the test cases presented in the =
report.
Once you get the data files, you can revise the files to fit to your own
test case structures.

Best regards,

Sam
