I did nothing like this, but I would assume it will work, as there exist (f=FCr slim line ATX Boxes or low profile 19"" server riser cards which extend from 1 PCI connector on the motherboard to 2 or three (sometimes both sides) PCI board places parallel to the motherboard. Saw them with length of more than 2 inch.
