Dave, UL-1950 in their table of electrochemical potentials has the cutoff at or below 0.6v between dissimilar metals. From their chart, only two metals are allowed in contact with just plain old Aluminum - 1. Zinc and Zinc alloys (0.2v) 2. 80Tin/20Zn on steel or Zn on Iron or Steel (0.15v) Now, the Al/Mg alloy has several allowed 1. Ni on Steel (0.6v) 2. Cu and Cu alloys (0.5v) 3. Lead (0.2v) to name a few. - Doug McKean ------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from si-list: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field or to administer your membership from a web page, go to: //www.freelists.org/webpage/si-list For help: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'help' in the Subject field List archives are viewable at: //www.freelists.org/archives/si-list or at our remote archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/si-list/messages Old (prior to June 6, 2001) list archives are viewable at: http://www.qsl.net/wb6tpu
