Hakim,
Join PCI SIG, if you do not already belong. Request and download SEASIM PCIE
statistical simulator. Meet or exceed the compliance specs for Gen 3 for your
channel.
Pass me the popcorn.

Subject: [SI-LIST] How useful is IBIS-AMI?
Hi everyone,
I'd like to know how useful IBIS-AMI is from your experiences?
We've requested our IP vendor for a model, but the price is quite hefty. So
I'd like to know how far you can go with PCB design without them? (which will
depend on the SI tools you have) Or if it's worth forking out the money for it.
I'm quite confident that we could design a good impedance controlled PCB using
3D EM simulations and looking at S-parameters and TDR plots.
The design is for PCIe Gen3 card and I have access to a 3D em simulator.
Would kindly appreciate your views on this topic!
Kind regards,
