Both have advantages and both have problems. Rembember that both HFSS v9 and CST v5 are significant changes from previous versions, and still have many bugs and lack of functionality to be worked out. My input is that I would really like to see a program that integrates features of both HFSS and CST. CST seems to be headed that direction. As for the comparison between HFSS frequency-domain and CST time-domain solver, I would make these recommendations: * Use HFSS for high-Q and/or narrow-band simulations * Use CST for broadband simulations where you don't need to see high-Q resonances * Use HFSS for high dynamic range (to get out-of-band filter performance, for example) * Use HFSS for dispersive simulations In both tools, the mesh is the key. (A side note: These are generalizations. For example, because of the way meshing works, I had better success simulating a bandpass CPW filter in CST than I did in HFSS, despite the above recommendations.) -- Daniel -- ___________________________________________________________ Sign-up for Ads Free at Mail.com http://promo.mail.com/adsfreejump.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from si-list: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field or to administer your membership from a web page, go to: //www.freelists.org/webpage/si-list For help: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'help' in the Subject field List FAQ wiki page is located at: http://si-list.org/wiki/wiki.pl?Si-List_FAQ List technical documents are available at: http://www.si-list.org List archives are viewable at: //www.freelists.org/archives/si-list or at our remote archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/si-list/messages Old (prior to June 6, 2001) list archives are viewable at: http://www.qsl.net/wb6tpu
