Kunal, Without investigating the entire set up it is difficult to magically come up with a solution as to why there are differences. However, assuming the entire test set up is the same for both cables you may be able to find an answer by investigating some of the differences in the cables themselves: What kind of difference do you see? 1. Is there just a couple of dBm or are there large differences between the two measurements (and at what frequencies)? 2. Are the terminations the same on each cable? 3. Is the shield thickness the same for each of the cables? 4. Are the shields the same configuration in both cables (do they both have an overlap)? 5. Is the shield made of the same material in both cables? 6. Is the O.D. of the wires in each cable the same? 7. etc... The solution may not be as simple as knowing that the shield of one cable is different from the other. If you would like to really understand what is going on in the cable once you discover any differences in their construction I might suggest digging in to a copy of "Cable shielding for Electromagnetic Compatibility", which was written, produced and directed by Anatoly Tsaliovich. One of the vendors cable shows much higher EMI values compared with another vendor cable. measurement setup is same for two vendors cables. I still don't have full measurement report. these are SATA internal cables, length of the cable is half meter. Can someone explain what could be wrong with the cable showing higher EMI level? Taking cable TDR Impedance scan will help us understand? -- Kunal --------------------------------- Did you know? You can CHAT without downloading messenger.
