Janine Love wrote this history of DesignCon in 2014. I added the thumbnails to
the call for papers published in 1994.

FYI, EDN was acquired by UBM in 2010, soon after the company had acquired
DesignCon. UBM sold EDN to Aspencore in August 2016, but kept DesignCon. Thus,
I'm no longer affiliated with DesignCon, although a DesignCon section still
exists on edn.com. Any new SI/PI content will appear there and perhaps in other
locations on the site. I expect to post two feature design articles relating to
SI in January. Ideas for additional SI/PI content is always welcome.

I will attend DesignCon 2017 and look forward to seeing everyone there.

Subject: [SI-LIST] Beginnings of DesignCon

I'd like to ask for some help surrounding the beginnings of DesignCon.
Going through some EDN magazines from 1994, I found calls for papers in the
August 18 and September 19 issues (I'm missing issues in between). In the
August 18 issue The conference was called "High-Performance System Design
Conference '95" but in the September 29 issue, the conference is called "Design
SuperCon '95." I have scanned both pages. Click on the thumbnails to download a
larger image.

Was 1995 for first DesignCon? The designcon.com calls 2017 the 22nd year, so
perhaps 1995 was the first.

I believe someone has written about the beginnings of DesignCon. If you know
where I can find it, please send a link. Thanks.

If you feel this topic is inappropriate for this list, then please reply
directly.

Thanks,
