Chambers,
inrush current is not only a hot-plug effect. Each bit after a longer idle time
will have the same effect.

Betreff: [EXTERNAL] [SI-LIST] the maximum value of coupling capacitors
Hello experts,
Yesterday I went through the details of the maximum value of coupling
capacitors defined in IEEE802.3. For 10GBase-KR signal, "It is recommended that
the maximum value of the coupling capacitors be limited to 100nF. This will
limit the inrush currents to the receiver that could damage the receiver
circuits when repeatedly connected to transmit modules with a high voltage
level ". Based on this description, I am confused on two items:
1. Why is there no limitation about minimum value? DC wander effect is a big
concern, which it is widely discussed during SI-LIST group? 2. In general,
hot plug will result in inrush current, for example USB. Why should inrush
current be taken into account for 10GBase-KR (backplane application)?
