    Considering that people have come on the list and said that Colorado
and Pennsylvania do not allow BSL in those states, and that the only
reason Denver is getting away with the current situation is because it
is a home rule city, the following information is really interesting.
    As of July 29, 2005, Commerce City, Colorado, is pushing through
BSL; Edgewater, Colorado, wants BSL; and Aurora, Colorado, is banning
pit bulls. Also Davenport, Iowa, is trying; and Madison, North Carolina
(Rotties, too)' Sparta, Tennessee's BSL will be voted on on August 4;
Rutledge, Georgia, is considering BSL; Taylor Mill, Kentucky, has BSL on
its August meeting agenda; two places in Oklahoma are considering
banning pit bulls; and the commission in Woodbury, Tennessee, is
planning to institute BSL as well.
    California has it in several places, and then, of course, there is
SB 861...

    As of yesterday, States with cities, towns, counties, and in a
couple of cases, even military bases that have passed or are considering
passing BSL are:
Alabama (6 places); Arkansas (8 places); California, (at least 5, plus
pending legislation); Colorado has BSL in Commerce City, Northglenn,
Fort Lupton, and Wellington in addition to Denver); Connecticut (1
place); Florida (at least 4, plus a couple of breeding bans); Idaho (2);
Illinois (29...and one place has banned Dobermans...can GSDs be far
behind?); Indiana (8 places); Iowa (53 places...and here I thought it
was a farming state!); Kansas (36 places);; Louisiana (4 places); Maryland
(3 places); Massachusetts (11); Michigan (20); Mississippi (4, including
Aberdeen); Missouri (25); Montana (2); Nebraska (1); New Jersey (6); New
Mexico (2); New York (13); North Carolina (only one, but the name of the
place is Transylvania...I wonder if they ban vampires, too); North
Dakota (4); Ohio (where the State has declared Pit Bulls as
Dangerous/Vicious)...
(47);  Oklahoma (3); Oregon (1); Pennsylvania (3); Rhode Island (3);
South Carolina (2); South Dakota (1); Tennessee (5...including the town
of Lynnville, which has banned GERMAN SHEPHERDS among other breeds);
Texas (3); Utah (3...one banns Shar Peis); Virginia (1); Washington
State (17); Wisconsin (8).
    That's 39 States that have or are considering BSL as of yesterday.
    Illinois has a Bill pending that lists German Shepherds in the list
of dangerous dogs (SB 1790- proposed by Sandoval).
Hawaii has a Bill punishing owners of pit bulls, AmStaffs, and Staffords
and holding them liable for damages if the dogs attack without
provocation. That's BSL, altho a strange one.....I guess that makes 40
states. In Pennsylvania, where there is a "no BSL law," it has been
circumvented...same in Texas.
