Since so many people responded to the book shelf idea, let me add
something.
After you assemble it, and set it "back side down" it gives a heat barrier
from the floor. If you want to, you can set a couple of 2X4s under it to
give an air pocket. Then when you put the blankets down, if you put in one
shelf, you can use that space to put the pups, while you change the blanket.
Also, the ones Ikea sells can be taken apart easily to store.
