I am VERY PLEASED to SHARE! My response may be a little longer than most -
BUT
please pay attention as it is REAL & TRUE!
I had more than just dogs thru the over 40 years I had the GSDs as a
specialty!
HORSES can't vomit and that is worse than the dogs with a digestive problem;
like colic!

OK, I NEVER NEVER had any bloat or torsion with MANY -- different bloodlines
thru the years
domestic, show, working, etc. as well as some import dogs I worked
h ---!
IT IS ---- WHEN; HOW; WHAT; & THE WAY THEY ARE FED EVERY DAY!

Always wait close to at least an hour after exercise and/or training stuff
etc. I would feed a bit twice a day, not once as so
many people do. I would have kibble (Exceed, Pedigree, Purina, as I
remember) in bowls with some canned food mixed
in like a salad using two Milk bone biscuits and leave them sticking in the
mixture. Sorry but due to the many dogs I cared for,
as I did boarding and rescue thru the years, no way do I put this problem to
"genetics" but daily care in a cautious way for all
critters. Norma no L

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] what is going on

In the last three weeks between my daughter and myself we have had two dogs
bloat. These girls aren't really related and practices as far as feeding
and housing are a little different. The only real thing in common is cold
weather, followed by warm, followed by cold. We both feed a decent food
twice a day. Would it be possible for people that have never had a dog
bloat share some of the things they do to help prevent it. I have read
everything I can find on Google. Through the years it seems I have had way
too many dogs suffer from this. I don't even breed these dogs anymore. The
dog that is three weeks out from surgery is doing very well. My 7 1/2 year
old is still at the ER vet. Prognosis is good but...I've heard that before.
Please share. + $6,000.00 is hard to handle right now.

Kathy
