Nah. I get a lot of referrals from vets. It has nothing to do w/
advertising. It has to do w/ healthy, scrupulously clean and well behaved
dogs that
they get their hands on. It has to do with them yanking a card out of a well
prepared puppy packet when a new puppy goes with their owners for a vet
check and THAT PUPPY is scrupulously clean, well mannered and at home on a
table.
I get calls from people all the time whose dog has died, their vet runs and
pulls the card they "stole" from puppy people or they pull someone else's
file and I've never even heard of these vets. (I do call w/ a "thank you"
even
after I have sent the person on their way to someone who has puppies). They
aren't looking at ad copy in their waiting room. They're going with what
they see and have had their hands on. My friends and regional club members are
usually the beneficiaries because I rarely have puppies...
Another super source of referrals are AB people. Go to the shows, introduce
yourselves, let children maul your dogs, even join and have a say in next
year's judge instead of complaining about last year's slate. Lots and lots of
referrals...lots and lots of good PR.
