while i am EXTREMELY thankful for hope and new beginnings for the U.S., i am 
equally thankful for my own "new beginnings" in 1982.  my dad had GSDs when i 
was born so i have never known life without these wonderful dogs.  when i 
decided to get into breeding/exhibiting on my own, at a time which coincided 
with 
the death of my dad in 1981, i needed and sought out those who might educate 
me, mentor me and help guide me in all phases of conformation.  i thank GOD, 
all the powers that be and then some that some wonderful people helped me along 
at first and that i made somw amazing lifelong friends.  there were no chat 
rooms, lists, instant means of communication at that time.  if i had 
encountered 
the nasty, petty, bitter negativity then that i have seen here today i might 
well have stuck to obedience and run away from the breed ring a whole lot 
faster than i'd walked toward it.  maybe if we all kept in mind that, on any 
given 
day, a complete newbie, with stars in their eyes and futures, might easily 
join this or another list and "see" those of us in the breed by what they read 
here.  we've discussed on more than one occasion the decline in entries, new 
people coming into the breed, up and coming handlers etc.  perhaps one clue, 
other than economic reasons, as to why our sport is fading lies in our 
ridiculous 
bickering, exaggerating, belittling and condemning of each other for no good 
reasons whatsoever.  we all have opinions and they all are unique.  can we 
PLEASE have and show a little more respect?
