speaking as someone who has been involved in hands-on rescue for over 25   
years, i know full well that every penny counts.  that being said, i don't   
think we have any right to make the individual/individuals who offered to 
donate  the sod feel as if they are not doing the "right" thing.  everyone 
has 
the  right to donate their money as they see fit - perhaps the sod donor 
also  donates to GSD rescue, be it weeping willow, last hope, agsra or one of 
  
their local rescues or shelters. 
  
donating to rescue or donating to the national or donating to grandma's   
quilting party is usually not done because someone created a feeling of guilt 
-  in fact, that usually has the opposite effect.  can't we simply say thank 
 you and be appreciative that someone stepped up for the good of the GSD 
... in  whatever venue?
