I had a black bitch years ago that drank out of a toilet that my mother had
just cleaned with clorox. She left the clorox in it to disinfect better, and
somehow the dog got into it and drank from it without our knowledge. We
found the dog dead a little later , so I never use anything other than
dishwashing detergent and a good scrubrush to clean my toilets. Yes, they are
clean.
To this day, I never leave the toilet seat up, even with just clean water
in it. I think about that every time I close the lid.
I'm the only one who cleans here; even so, have you ever tried a pumice
stone for the toilets? You can get them at Lowes, and boy do they work.
Bonus,
you don't have to worry about the dogs, because sooner or later, everybody's
dog will drink out of the toilet.
