Michelle - I have had one GSD who had hemangiosarcoma.  Katy was almost 13 and 
was my love and a great obedience dog.  Of the 12 GSDs that I have had over 
many years, she is the only one who passed due to hemangiosarcoma.  That's 
surely not the case with bloat/torsion though.  But that's another story in 
itself.
