Here's a link that describes the different techniques... http://members.fortunecity.com/houndfancy/procon.html# HI: Be sure and have your Vet explain that this gastroplexy is not 100% foolproof and ask what the percentages are running, presently, with the latest research on dogs torsioning in spite of the surgery. Used to be 15 %... Some dogs develop adhesions and some suffer from infections etc... No surgery is 100 % safe with no possible serious side-effects... Just have your vet sit down with you and fully explain the possible down-side of this as well, so you know going into it what you are getting your Boy into and the possible negative outcome as well as the good... Just a 'Head's Up'... IF your Shepherd comes from a family where Bloat/Torsion Gastric is a serious Health Risk, then you probably are wise to consider having it done.
