I use the laser pointer.  All my little one needs to hear is the chain it's 
attached to or the button click and she alerts to find it.  Also worked wonders 
when she was a puppy to "exercise" the muscles in her ears.  In fact, the only 
time my flop-eared dog's ears would stand was if the pointer was out.
