In any breed a sable dog is not the same as a brown dog. In a brown dog, each separate hair is one uniform color. In a sable dog, each separate guard hair is two colors ( each hair is a bi. Grin ) , either grey banded with black, silver sable, or brown banded with black, dark sable. In addition, all sable dogs have a mask. It may not always be apparent, but it is there no matter what breed. Rub the fur on the head backward and even a hidden ask will be revealed. There may be such a thing as a brown GS, but I wouldn't want one. There were many nice silver sables in the 50s and 60s; GV Yorkdom's Pac was a silver sable. Haven't seen one in years.
