Works very well. I get it from a compounding pharmacy that cuts it down to dog
strength.

Tedi I have used toltrazuril 5% with caution.
Ponazuril is an active metabolite of toltrazuril; the alternate chemical name
for ponazuril is toltrazuril sulfone.
The dose I have used is the old one, 0.08 cc per lb, 1 day. At some point the
mfg started to recommend 2x that for 3 days with landed litters in the ER w/
loose stools, dehydration, lethargy. It also tastes terrible and kills
appetite during treatment
Coccidia is a normal find, I prefer albon which suppresses most and allows
puppies' own GI systems adapt. Trouble is you can send a puppy home and a vet
will get a new owner all worked up.
So short answer, use cautiously at the lower dose. Do not use the 2.5%
solution which is for birds.

Has anybody out there used ponazuril to treat for coccidia? A puppy we sent to
Michigan has been treated for coccidia with it. Apparently it’s a horse drug
which is starting to be used with dogs and cats.
