The truth is, any decent judge can tell the temperament of a German
shepherd when it walks into the ring. However, it is a dog show. If the dog
stands for the temperament test, it is considered having passed the test.
We know some are trained to stand, and some that don't are just looking
for the owner. Only the judge, inside the ring, can decide.
The standard says they are to be aloof. But, how many like that? When a
dog jumps up on the judge to be petted, we all laugh, but that is not proper
temperament.
We judge the dogs to the standard, and we judge what they do in the ring
on that day, when they are being judged.
And, that's the truth!
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
That phrase about obscenity was uttered by Supreme Court Justice Potter
Stewart in the case of Jacobellis v Ohio. Ohio had some great cases. A
"Terry" search, or a pat down search is from Terry vs. Ohio.
And, we all learned about Cleveland last week.
