The original dogs included in creating this breed had, among others, wire
coats, long coats, floppy ears, whites, and other traits that needed to be bred
out of the gene pool. Those dogs had some of the desired traits and therefor
were included in the beginning. The breed was not created out of nothing - it
was created from existing dogs and then using selective breeding and testing,
the German Shepherd Dog became a reality. Now we want to go back to the various
traits the were originally deemed to be undesirable - and for what? To
"improve" the breed??
A wooly coated, floppy eared, spotted dog is in the genetics - but is it a GSD?
Not in my breed.
