My 2 cents on this one briefly, is that I captured 2 plaques some years
back and I still treasure them for what it is worth. Not being a big time
breeder per se I still value and treasure my 2 pieces of "wood" :) . I would
agree perhaps giving wood for 1st place only. I agree with someone who posted
that there should be some problem solving attempted before just
eliminating the wood.

Maybe the wood and/or trophies don't mean much to the breeders, but many of
the dogs shown in Futurities and Maturities are owned by other that
breeders. The dogs are in "show homes", and that means a lot to those
owners.
Major thing to consider: There are not points in futurities, remove from
that no wood/trophies and you will have NO FUTURITIES!

As much as I love traditions, if a tradition is going to bankrupt the
club,
then I think it needs to be re-evaluated. DCA used to offer these wonderful
Armetal Beer Steins for first in the classes at our National - awesome and
I
own several of them, but they became cost prohibitive.
It seems to me that people are being slightly narrow minded if they are
more
worried about trophies than they are the welfare of the clubs...
Maybe it is time to develop NEW traditions ;-)
