In early Dec I "sold" and adult dog to a lady who lived alone, wanted a
ompanion, would take the dog to work with her (she had a job like that),
lanned to do more obedience, hiking etc etc.. sounded like the awesome
ife.. It was just before Christmas so I only took a $200 deposit.. the
emainder to be paid after Christmas. I did not hear form her again, so
ssumed all was well.. i was busy, so did not follow up at that time
kicking myself for that, for sure!!)
We have all run across that type of person. We've learned over the years.. now,
when we place an adult we video the dog and new owner when they leave to
document the temperament of the dog, we take the dog to the vet for a check up
and get a health certificate, and we have the new owner sign a release that
they are responsible for the dog once it leaves our property. Depending on the
situation we might charge an adoption fee as I don't like to give away
dogs..and we always offer to take the dog back if things don't work out. I
think our efforts up front have saved us a lot of unnecessary craziness. Sorry
you came across the wacho lady, glad you got your dog back safe and sound.

I contacted her after Christmas to find out how things were going and got a
cathing e-mail about how badly behaved the dog was (had been a housedog
ith me, and i alwasy called her the "non-dog" because she never did
nything wrong) - had been messing all over her house and she did not know
hat she was going to do with her. I immediately contacted her to help.. she
aid "oh, well, she quit doing that. But I want to return her and get my
oney back". I told her i did not do refunds, but that i would certianly
ake her back and try to re-home her. I did not hear back from her again,
ntil i e-mailed her again in Feb.. THEN she said that the dog had developed
skin disorder and that her searches on the interent showed her that it was
thyroid problem and that she wanted me to pay all the vet bills that would
e associated with that. she described the skin conditions as her hair
breaking off all around her neck" and she was developing ulcers and bald
atches on her body. I asked her what her vet said. she hadn't taken her to
he vet - until i promised to pay the bills, since this was a "genetic"
ondition. I again said i would take her back and take her to my vet, or she
ould take the dog to her own vet and to lease forward me the reports.
ok, didn't hear form her again until today..

believe that you have never given a refund like you said because you seem
o be that kind of breeder whom seems to be in it for the money. Thats
eside the point I expect a response today with an agreement that you are
oing to take all the vet costs off what is owing or I will start to figure
ut how much board you owe me from the day I asked to bring her back. I am
ot letting this go and I will post a comment about how this went for me in
he Ripp Off Report and Better Business Bureau. "
I told her to return the dog today, or do not contact me again. (btw, i
on't feed Authority, byt it really doesn't matter - the dog was healthy
hen she left here, regardless of what she was eating..)
She sent the dog back with some guy - didn't even come herself. I was out
icking up my granddaughter, but my husband found out that the dog was
athed at least twice a week, and had been wearing a cone because she was
hewing the "ulcers" all the time. She had not been taken to the vet ever.
here is what i found: one GIANT hotspot. I've been around just a few years
nd know a hot spot when i see one. the hair broken off around her neck was
learly from a broad collar, or the cone.. either one. The worst, though is
n ear infection in both ears like i have never seen before.. likely from
etting them filled with water twice a week. the dog is also grossly over
eight. I have trimmed all the fur off around the hotspot, and treated it
ith tea tree oil.. it already looks better and she is not chewing it at
ll. her ears have been throughly cleaned (with Dixie dog Treatment), dried
nd panalog applied. I am so pissed i can hardly contain myslef.
