Hmmm. In many places, it's illegal to use dogs to hunt deer. When we had
the farm in upstate New York, dogs were locked up tight during deer season,
because they were likely to be shot by all us landowners if we saw them out
running...even if we didn't see any deer at the time. And there was no
recourse for the dog owner, either...
Here in Virginia, at least in parts of it, tho, it's legal to use dogs
(hounds, I should say)
