have a question. I know that everyone has been talking about sound dogs and
that they should not respond to guns shots or thunder. Well my question is
what do you do when lighting strikes at your home and hits the tree next to
the kennel. My dogs are sound but that noise was great and the house and
kennel shock. Now they get a little upset when we have thunder and lighting.
Does this make them unsound
I do not think so but want to know what you think

IMO, I don't think so. My dogs went through hurricane Rita last year,
120-130 MPH winds, and a tornado hitting. I have ones here that slept through
everything prior to that, but believe me, that unnerved them. I huge red oak
tree fell across the outside kennels and crashed the roof in. The noise of
the tornado almost burst my ear drums.
When the wind comes up now every last one of them get just a little edgy.
Are they afraid or wary? I call it very wary and well they should be.
Frightened are the ones if they got loose you could not catch with a butterfly
net. Wary are the ones that while upset, will still stay at your side.
So, are yours wary or frightened.......there is a difference.
