Well, my judging trip to Israel was a riot. Firstly, it took them 3
years to get me to agree to go...I was sure I'd be blown up or
something. Finally I accepted and then they said "what will we do
with that shiksa for a week" and cancelled the invite.
Then the officers of the club changed and they started inviting me
again...and 2 years later, I went........
The best falafel stand in all of Tel Aviv has been there for three
generations of people...thru wars and bombs and all. It's in a
really bad part of town, but that's where we went...(my guides, or
escorts, were two brothers who had to be the handsomest men in the
country)...and the three of us stood there at the edge of a bicycle
path eating falafel as fast as we could, so we could get more of
them...ha ha...with tahini sauce dripping down our chins.....
hmmm. The falafel and the Diamond Center were the things I enjoyed
most...well, them and the Elvis Presley Museum, which is on the way
to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv........
Not bad for a Catholic kid, huh?
