Some years ago, a friend lost his grown GSD because of a tennis ball stuck in the dog's throat when the owner was not there to help remove it. I will occasionally let my dogs chase a tennis ball but never leave them out when I am not there. Actually their favorite ball to chase & chew is the (large) Kong Ball. Also, my vet also thinks that the pigs ears, dehydrated skin, etc. are not safe.
