Paula,
your post about the cat being crated reminded of a time several years ago
when a "momma" cat took up residence with a friend of mine...and of course
proceeded to have eight little kittens...that was fine and good for my friend
she
was going to raise them and find good homes for them...well unfortunately
illness overtook a member of her family and she was no longer able to take care
of the kittens...at least for 3-4 weeks...she called me and asked me if I
would take the kittens for that time period and then she would take them back
and so forth...I did...I arrive home with the kittens and realize that my GSDs
have never seen a cat much less eight kittens...so what does Pauline the dog
person do....crate the kittens of course...no problems what so ever...the
dogs did their sniffing from outside the crate and soon learned about the
sharp
claws of kittens and only give the crate the once only when they came in at
night...the kittens were wonderful in the crates (an old fashioned General
wire crate with small about 1/2" squares) I hung bells and little toys from
the
top for them and they had a ball playing and would all curl up and sleep in a
pile together...So I guess the moral to my story is...whatever they get used
to at an early age...will be normal for them...My friend still tells the
story about my crating her kittens...yes she did come and get them as promised
and found good homes for all of them...Pauline
