Somebody wrote about a dog that was really overheated and the owner let him
drink a lot of ice water… and supposedly the dog went into shock. That’s
probably what started the concern, as it’s pretty well spread through Facebook…
pros and cons.
I didn’t check to see any follow-up or to see if it was a false fact to get
‘clicks.’ So I have no idea if it it true or not.

I have been giving my dog ice cold water for years in there pool and water
buckets to keep them cool in this very hot summer . Knock on wood none of
mine bloated from it yet , but that is the only way they will go into there
doggie pool if its ice cold . And thought I been helping them stay cool ,
most put there feet in it and drink it at the same time . Have two that will
lay down in it to get cool off right away .
Also I have been to AKC events were they had a baby pool with water in it
with a big chunk of ice in the pool . I know for a fact once I'm out there
with my dogs and come in I want ice cold drink to cool me off right away also
. Its good to see what other's have to say about this so I'm not hurting my
dogs any way . Now that I fenced my property in and most of all my dogs get
along with each other I can let them all out and go and cool off and lay on
the cold ground and pool all day .
