Never deal with this person again. Give the dog a loving home, and consider

Fighting over dogs never has resulted in anything of value. It is
unfortunate when these things happen, but they do. Know who you co-own with,
do it
only with friends, and never expect to gain anything from it, other than
helping the other person.
In that way, you seldom are disapointed.
