Were you early dogs very athletic, agile, and supple? How come it is rarely
mentioned in ads...is it not an important trait anymore to possess?
Phrases go out of style and new one come in. I still can't call someone
"Dude" or say, "My bad" without feeling like a total idiot. Which, in truth
might be a valid statement.
I remember when I first heard of a "Gray" and now it seems we are reviving
"Brown" both for sables.
The phrase isn't being used that much, but the dogs are as great or better
than they ever were. I know from personal experience Kirk loves to sit in
chairs, or get up on top of 6 ft walls to walk or sit. We have a picture of
him on a cement ball. This is not unusual for today's German shepherds.
They are as good at "athleticism" as they ever were. Just because we don't
use the phrase, does not say we don't see it in our dogs. They are still
the "cat's meow".
The breed is but a little over 100 years old. If you want to figure
generations, and use an 8 year life span, that is only 12 or 13 generations.
There is no great genetic change, but rather some traits we are hiding
through better breeding.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
