A friend of mine just bought an adult dog. Unfortunately the dog spins or runs around an object constantly. When she first saw the dog it did not do this, but within 24 hours of getting the dog home she began this behaviour. Undoubtably the dog was on some sort of medication to control this. She has looked this up on the internet and it is a OCD type of behaviour that is hardwired in and is not going to go away. Medication can help ( apparently) but what is the long term prognoses? How intense does this become. The dog is thin and of course putting food down triggers excitement and the dog spins. She can eat, but will this get the point she won't be able too? Does the effect of medication become less effective over time. Any words of advice. Such a sweet natured dog, what a shame. Sue T I've read its hereditary.
