I have very little patience with cats. We never had cats in our house. My
grandmother could not stand them jumping on the counter and getting into
everything, and neither did my mom.
They are allowed to run loose, the owners kick them out now and then to
do their duty in someone else's yard with little piles covered with dirt
everywhere. Boy, does that stink! They don't have to be licensed, stalk
the birds, leave some body parts of their prey at my front door, and pee
on my car's windshield wipers. I've bought many of those.
When I take my dogs to the park they have to be leashed at all times (6
foot leash only). When they happen to potty there you better have a
baggie to pick up the "treasures" and God forbid that my dogs happen to
bark during the day (they are inside at night), but the music these cats
make at night wakes up a dead person.
I have no problem with them if people keep them at home, two of my kids
have cats and I tolerate them, but that's it.
The cat problem is pretty much contained here in the desert as the
coyotes take care of the overpopulation.
Moral of the story - if you love them - keep them in the house.
