I have an opinion. Put money into a savings account and earmark it for dog
emergencies. That way you don't have to worry about whether an expense is
going to be 'approved' by the insurance company. You could also use the money
to take care of issues when your dog gets older and is 'uninsurable' by those
pet insurance companies.
