Every puppy is different in how they carry weight. Visual determination always
worked for me.
I don't want to ever see a tubby pup at any age.
If mom can handle her pups nursing until 6-7 weeks thats great. They usually
decide about when
they have had enough. Will not allow pups with teeth to be tugging at her and
causing her grief.
Moms are smart enough though to let you know.

I have been thinking about weight on our GSD'S and this "might" be stupid to
ask....but I've never seen this before.
What on the average is your puppies weight at 5 weeks old!?
Do you worry about puppy weight? Or is that only when they get a little
older...say 10-12 weeks old!?
When do you stop letting mom nurse!? Let her decide?
I have two puppies that weigh 8 pounds and a few ounces at 5 weeks old. I'm
happy they are healthy, but should I worry or just wait....funny a lady on
