No. What happened is the SV sent the GSDCA a letter demanding that we  
accept their standard instead of ours, and if not, we would no longer be 
allowed 
 to call our dogs "German shepherds".
 
I was on the board when Dan Smith read the letter to us.  Had there  been a 
rope handy, there might have been a lynching.  As a group, the board  
reacted as American usually act when told to do something to be punished.
 
I felt we could just start calling our dogs "Schuferhunds" instead.
 
It got resolved, and nothing further was done. We did not make a change to  
our standard.  
 
The GSDCA has many less members than does the FCI/SV. However, we also have 
 less citizens than Europe, less doctors than the rest of the world 
combined,  less homes than all of Russia, Germany, England and Asia combined.   
 
Yet, we are respected for our accomplished throughout the world.
 
But, for some strange reason, America retains a respect from the rest of  
the world. The American German shepherd is something to be noted, and the  
quality of our breeding, the prestige of the GSDCA, the passion of our members 
 and the dedication of our board is recognized throughout the world.
 
We recognize the SV, admire things about their system, their dogs, and  
their members. But, while we remain a recognized member state at the SV, they 
do  not dictate to our club, our members or our breeding.  I have an  
interesting letter from the SV to Schutzhund USA about the judges book. It  
became 
clear that the Schutzhund USA must accept the GSDCA WDA judge's books, or  
lose their seat at the SV.  
 
The SV may be bigger, but they are not the boss of us.
 
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
