This is not new, and this has been known for some time. When I served on  
the board, every year we were told the report was not final, as they needed 
more  information.  Nadine Grady did a great job getting things in order, and 
the  new group is working hard to find solutions.
 
We were told by the auditors we needed a one year reserve, and we had  a 
reserve of about $800,000.00. Now I am told we are down to less than  
$400,000.00 and have a commitment of $200,000 to the centennial location. This  
is 
more than a concern, and I am not sure what the solutions will be. I am told  
by a number of people that the club has some real problems with finances, 
and  that either we have to cut spending, or raise revenues.
 
I know that the idea was to get sponsors for the centennial. I do not know  
if it is done, or being done.
 
The GSDCA is in the same situation as our government, but we do not have  
the ability to create assets.  It is going to take a real effort to stop  the 
direction we have gone for the past eight years.  The first solution is  to 
identify the problem. The next is to find a solution.  Continuing to do  
what we have done in the past is a formula for diaster.
 
This board is up to the challenge, and has the right people working on  it. 
I have faith in our board, and the finance committee. We must be ready to  
assist them in whatever way is needed.
