We picked up Missy from the emergency vet tonight and brought her home only to take her to the emergency vet in another city. She looked really bad ,still drooling, breathing hard, depressed and would eat nothing. We were sent home with pills for a dog with an "extremely inflamed throat." I would not be so cruel as to try to stick pills down a dog with a very inflamed throat! Couldn't stick them in food. Tried to mash them and put them in liquid and she promptly threw up. At the 2nd vet they did a chest xray and it seems her esophagus is enlarged and she now has pneumonia. She is back on iv fluids and antibiotics, antinausea and, thankfully, morphine. I pray that she makes a turn around soon, but I am not real optimistic. If they will let me treat her at home I might be able to afford to save her. Pray that her esophagus is symptom and not a cause, that they will allow me to give injectables at home and that Missy will not be joining Jackie at the Rainbow Bridge just yet.
