Thanks for pointing this out, Sheila. A couple of my dogs have a paper eating
fetish. I try my best to never leave any paper product in reach of these guys.
Seeing how they live in the house, this is quite a chore. From time to time,
they still get a "fix" when my husband leaves a paper napkin on the coffee
table and I can't nab it in time. Yes, the paper eaters are regularly vetted
and are perfectly healthy. They just enjoy eating paper.
Then there's my "Burger Boy." (An 11 month old GSD.) The other day, while I
was on the phone, he jumped up on the sofa, then onto a tall buffet. Why did
he do this? To take a picture off the wall so that he could eat the wood
frame. Thank goodness I heard the racket and was able to grab the thing out of
his mouth before he could eat it!

Many dogs, despite concerned owners, despite many efforts by more than one bet
to discern the reason behind the eating of odd items, they still do it.
Liddy has had Paban in her food off and on all her life. The rock eating dog
has had much investigated. That dog is owned by a knowledgeable dog person.
And still there is odd eating.
My Hound has nearly died and I have no idea what she got. It would seem people
use my yard for a trash can from their back yards. I do what I can to keep it
clean, but no one is perfect.
I have seen much, and while if there is ignorance I do seek to educate,
sometimes being smart and educated is not enough to figure out why Fido eats
string and tries to kill himself with it, or whatever dogs eat.
Liddy's poops of pure dirt and her burps of pure poop are not desirable. But
she has her own opinion of what is clean enough for her to walk around, I
guess....

Ok, DUH! If you get a puppy, puppy proof your home. If an adult dog is eating
metal, rocks or other strange items, take them to the vet. That is not normal.
Eating grass, chewing furniture as a pup and even eating poop is not an issue
unless it becomes an obsession. How do you not see if your dog is doing this?
That video just showed me the ignorance of some pet owners. Aargghhh!
