have received word that Tom Crowe (founder of the Crowe Dog Show
Organization, which absorbed the old Foley group and became Moss-Bow Foley
Dog Show Superintendents) has passed away.
Tom's
life in dogs included being a breeder, several years as a professional
handler, and progressed to his founding and operating one of the largest,
most successful show superintending organizations in the country. He also
served with distinction and merit on the AKC Canine Health Foundation Board
of Directors until his retirement in 2001. An avid fundraiser and advocate
ofthe CHF, Crowe was instrumental in establishing the CHF's signature event,
the ever popular "Gala by the Bay," and his dedication to fundraising for
canine health causes didn't stop there. He was also an influential
backer of the "Star Dogs" contribution program.
He also wrote several articles for
distribution to the dog fancy, with advice that was most helpful to most
newbies and that served as reminders to the "old timers."
I was not given the date of his death, or any
other information, but I am sure that will be forthcoming.
