On various Lists that I follow, a couple of interesting "threads" have  
started.  I thought I would throw them out here, too.

One was a person who chose not to sign off on a co-ownership because  
the co-owner bred to a dog not of the first co-owner's liking.  AKC  
said that they would register the litter anyway and perhaps sanction  
the person who DIDN'T sign off... the first co-owner.  I'm not quite  
understanding AKC's position.  First they say that all owners/co- 
owners must sign the registration before they will register the dog,  
they they force somebody under a threat of sanction TO SIGN one?   
Maybe $$$???


The other thread was REALLY interesting... about Dalmatians, but could  
be any breed.  Cross breeding to eliminate a health problem to a dog  
very close to the original dog's historical pedigree (Pointer to  
Dalmatian).  UKC after many generations will register as purebred.  (I  
think I know a Dalmatian breeder on this list can tell us more LOL).   
MY point is that all of our dogs are "impure" and if some really bad  
genetic disease could be wiped out of a breed, and then the breeding  
comes back for, say, 10 generations, wouldn't it be worh it to remove  
certain life threatening diseases?

Just thought provoking.
