Something that I have found interesting is that several people have made the
comments that Dals and GSDs are very different... Actually, not at all! They do
the same darn things to make you laugh.
Whenever a Dal pup comes to the house, they discover the full length mirror in
our bedroom and they have to admire themselves! Pepper, the younger GSD
remembers then there is a mirror too and hops up on the bed and sits and
admires herself from ALL angles. She turns her head each direction, parades
back and forth on the bed, etc....
Bathroom - I no longer ever go to the bathroom in private - my adventures in
the morning including taking a shower and stepping on a dog (usually Pepper)
when I get out.. When Argus came to stay at my house, he did the same darned
thing - and our bathroom is NOT big enough for the three, sometimes four of us
(that's if Simmie feels the need to join in).
GSDs and Dals in the car guarding? I am sure they do it for the shear delight..
They usually lie in wait until some unsuspecting person comes by, then bark and
and jump up and down like crazy and make the car shake. In the meantime, the
person has now dropped a load in their underwear and the dogs sit back and
start laughing in glee.
Toys.... Both breeds - all toys are MY toys, even if I don't have it in my
mouth.. If I think you might want that toy that is over in the other room, it
is MY toy...
About the only differences I can see between the two breeds (except for look of
course) is that Dals shed alot and GSDs shed MORE!
Two great breeds and I am honored to own both of them... But you know what - I
am getting alot of ragging... Most people go from large, fast moving breeds, to
smaller, lighter, slower moving breeds... I went the opposite direction. I must
be crazy!
