[ SHOWGSD-L ] The state of the Union, (election) An open plea

Over the weekend I read some interesting and disturbing posts. I do not
agree with negative campaigning and I do not feel endorsements from others in
a
public forum is proper. I neither asked for, nor do I wish to have this sort
of a campaign.
There is a trend to negativism in this election and I would urge all of us
running to avoid it, and to ask others to do the same. We all are trying to
support our breed, our club and the members who want to support us and are
willing to serve on our board. Perhaps there are strong feelings for or against
the candidates, and while I do understand that, I would ask that we all
remember that all the candidates have proven their reputations with the years
gone
by and that they should not be attacked at a time when it is better to look
forward and support our club.
I have given some thought to asking that all candidates remove themselves
from this and all other public lists on the inter-net until after the election.
But, that seems a bit harsh, although attractive to me right now. I would
like to know how others feel about it.
As with many things, I am interested in the opinions of others on this, but
for me, please do not attack any candidate in public, and vote as you wish,
but with your mind, your hearts, and your knowledge of the candidate. Do not
be swayed by any negative statements, but remember the person you know.
