[ SHOWGSD-L ] The Review AND the computer

When I joined the GSDCA almost 30 years ago, I joined for . . . The
Review. I was learning all about our breed. I LOVED the little
magazine--its size alone was distinctive. And INSIDE did not
disappoint. There were multitudinous "ads" which included pedigrees,
so I knew what I was looking at. There were loads of informative
articles on bloodlines/diseases/breeders. Now if I want to learn
about a certain GSD, most people have websites, most winning dogs are
photographed at specialties AND all breed shows and the pedigrees can
also be found on-line. 30 years ago I read wonderful articles in The
Review, as stated above. Now, if it's not in our magazine, once again
I can go on-line to research ANYTHING about our breed that I want.
Jeddie and Brando bloated/torsioned respectively and I've spent time
on the phone with vets, on the phone with Barb Williams and AGAIN, on-
line researching. During the past couple years, Tabu and Brando
finished their championships. I put photos and information about them
on my website, not in The Review. What I've done recently with The
Review is donate money privately for memorials.
So what am I saying? Is The Review a white elephant? Probably.
Didn't someone want to do an on-line Review? What happened to that?
