As far as I know, the NAIS is strictly voluntary...and the moment it
becomes otherwise, we will be living with the real Big Brother.............
this was discussed on this list (and every other list I know of)
several months ago...sample letters were distributed for people to send
saying how crazy the proposal was, and saying this country is NOT ready
for such an Orwellian idea.............
If it ever comes to pass that the "voluntary" part is dropped, we
may as well give up life as we know it.................like all other
ideas of its kind, it gives one or two lovely little pat phrases and
sucks you right in..................only to discover later that the NAIS
is the most awful idea yet.
Any database NAIS had so far is not going to be very
comprehensive....almost all livestock producers were against it -- at
least any who belonged to any organizations!
