Actually,
One of the best things I did was start the Dalmatian Stud Dog list on Facebook.
Dals, like so many other breeds are caught in a the bottle neck with their gene
pool and everyone is looking for different ways to breed. I have 5 champion
bitches - all half-sisters to breed and was tired of racking my brain for
ideas. When we got home from DCA, I came up with this idea.
People get to post up to two photos of their boys and I have 5 albums - Liver
Boys, Black Boys, Dogs On Ice, Non-North American dogs and now I just started
an album for dogs under two years of age without clearances. The posters have
to include sire, dam, health clearances, CHIC #'s if they have them, and any
other info they want, plus contact email addresses and websites.
Let me tell you, this has been a HOT commodity and I know of at least 4
breedings of live dogs and several people interested in the Dogs On Ice list.
All using boys they had never thought of or didn't know existed.
I know there are lots of information sources for GSDs, but there are so many
dogs that people have that finish and everyone forgets about.. Maybe someone
would like to take on the task? I would if people are interested. It just takes
a little time to set up and after that, is pretty user friendly..
It's all free too and people love freebies :-)
