[ SHOWGSD-L ] The Future of the GSD as we know it.

As I was out on this beautiful day at Home Depot with Ch. Casey, a Black
and Red beautiful representation of our breed*, many people stopped and asked
if they and their children could pat him. He not only allowed everyone to
pat him, but kissed all the children and wagged his tail.
Some people told me they had 150 lb White German Shepherds growing up, and
they were not friendly.
Our breed has a long and glorious past. The future, if left up to the
gratis membership, I fear is in grave danger of disappearing as we all know it
and love it.
Can you imagine what must be going on in heaven as the Great Breeders of
the past are looking down and crying? (Including Max Von Stephanitz).
As I have read many of the posts this week, there are people who have no
clue about the history of the GSD and only understand that the White and long
Coats are more rare and they can charge more. The AKC is allowing designer
dogs to compete now in confirmation, do I hear dollar signs ?
In the end the only way to preserve our great breed is to be an active
member of a Regional and of course The GSDCA, educate the public about the long
and magnificent history and how our dogs became this beautiful and royal
breed.
