We used to have barn swallows here in the summer months. They 'bothered'
the church folk as the singing was louder than the choirs so the priests had
the nests shot of the church every year. (This was back in the 70's before
church folk realized that nature actually had a plan). Now we have no more
swallows in the area at all and a huge increase in the amounts of
mosquitoes. I've started building bat houses to try and get the mosquitoes
under control.
Please send me your swallows!

Lissa, one of my very favorite memories was going to a RV place WAY out in
the desert swimming in a heated (through a pipe out in the sun coming down
the mountainside) huge pool, and the swallows (zoooming) diving at the water
(well, we were in there TOO) at abut 3 in the a.m. Too hot to sleep, but
those birds were awake and diving. Then the burros started braying up on the
mountainsides.
Swallows are FUN!
