seeing as ivomectin is the primary ingredient in Heartgard and Heartgard Plus I
find it kind of interesting that they claim it isn't labeled for small animal

I understand there is a study being done by Davis University, CA
regarding Ivomectin being given to dogs. apparently some dogs are
allergic to this and DNA can tell which ones are etc. Since
Ivomectin is not labeled for small animal use as a wormer or for
heartworm prevention, it might be a good idea to get on this study and
find out more about it. Are some dogs really allergic to it? Do some
have a sensitivity? Since a puppy I sold recently was given it at a
young age and almost died, it seems like it might be worth taking a
look at this. I understand the kit for the DNA swab is free at this
point. Probably someone on this list can give the name of the contact
for this study at Davis.
